Choose one of the following workshops to attend:

TALK THIS WAY
  • Topic Overview: How to structure a talk, focusing on content and time
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: You have something to say and you want to get your message across. This workshop is going to help you in formatting and structuring your talk. You'll also learn how to better manage your time and organize the content of your talk.
OUTREACH, NOT OUT OF REACH
  • Topic Overview: Creative and genuine ministry outreach, practically applied
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members.
  • Description: This workshop is a practical session offering solutions to reaching out to the periphery so that we can minister not only to the gathered, but also reach the scattered in a genuine and creative manner.
COMS 101
  • Topic Overview: Establishing a strong and effective communication system for your ministry and getting your teens in the know
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: Despite technology being what it is in 2018, often it feels as if it is harder than ever to reach your youth. This workshop will address this concern and offer some strategies to help you establish a long-lasting and ultra-effective communication system so that you can get the word out to those involved in your ministry.
MARATHON TRAINING
  • Topic Overview: Making your ministry effective for the long haul (Methodology for 2018/19)
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: This marathon training doesn't involve sneakers and shin splints. Take a deep breath and join us to discover how to make a long-range plan for your ministry. This workshop will give you methods applicable to youth of today, not ten years ago (because the times change quickly!).

HAMMER TIME
  • Topic Overview: How to MC a youth ministry night
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: Whether you are considering taking on the role of host for the first time, or if you are looking to refine your hosting skills - this workshop is for you! You'll come away with tips, tricks and strategies to make hosting a night a little less daunting and a whole lot easier.
CORE OF THE MATTER
  • Topic Overview: Outlining the core values of a core leader
  • Target Audience: new core members
  • Description: If you are new to the core team (volunteer team) or perhaps just discerning a call to join the core team, this workshop will be especially beneficial to you. Here we'll outline some of the top values of a core leader and set you up for success!
TOP OF MIND
  • Topic Overview: How to walk with youth struggling with mental health issues
  • Target Audience: Youth Minsters and core members
  • Description: In recent years, there has been a turn of focus toward mental health issues and there have been many notable campaigns to erase the "stigma" of these health conditions. This workshop will lay out some strategies on how to minister to youth who struggle with their mental health and walk with them as they continue down the path of holiness.
TECH TALK
  • Topic Overview: Using contemporary media and technology in ministry today
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: It is one of the fastest changing and quickest growing industries in the world: technology. This workshop will teach you how to use the latest and greatest in media, gadgetry, and gizmos to enhance your ministry. We're going to upgrade you from analog to digital in a nanosec.
LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL
  • Topic Overview: Ministering to our young adults
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: One of the challenges we are seeing in parishes these days is how to minister to those who have passed through your tween and teen programming. This workshop will outline some ways to draw in the young adults of your parish and come up with a plan to keep them striving for sainthood when they leave high school to attend college or university, or move into the working world.
HOUSEHOLD FOUNDATIONS
  • Topic Overview: Engaging parents and building collaboration with core and Youth Ministers
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members and Youth Ministers
  • Description: Explore new ways to keep the parents of your youth engaged with the Church and your ministry work. Learn how to be more collaborative with your parents and your core team and how keeping family members in the mix helps your ministry and can help the youth's own home life.

  • Topic Overview: Trends in cognitive development of teens today
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: If you've ever looked at one of your youth and wondered to yourself, "What are you thinking?" - first, please know that you're not alone! Second, join this workshop to find out the latest trends in cognitive development of youth in today's world.
NEW FRONTIERS
  • Topic Overview: What comes next for growing your ministry while not overextending yourself
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers
  • Description: There are limited hours in a day and days in a week. This workshop will look at how you can use your time effectively and expand your ministry without taking a toll on you, your mind, body, and heart.
PERFECT CHEMISTRY
  • Topic Overview: Exploring where science meets faith and how to help teens see complementarity, not conflict
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: We're taking a field trip to the intersection of life where faith meets science. This workshop will arm you with the knowledge needed to help your youth understand that it doesn't have to be one or the other - that these two facets can exist in a complimentary fashion. Lab coats and safety goggles not required ;)
IDENTITY CRISIS
  • Topic Overview: Addressing gender identity questions and presence in a youth ministry environment
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: In today's culture it can be a little confusing for teens (and all of us) when it comes to gender identity questions. This workshop will help you better understand what we believe as Catholics, why we believe it, and how we can handle issues if they arise within our own ministries.
MAKE THE MOST OF IT
  • Topic Overview: Using summer months and holiday times wisely and constructively for your ministry
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: What to do when school is out and your youth are idle. This workshop will give you some ideas and strategies to be able to use the summer months and holiday times constructively. Keep your kids out of trouble AND lead them toward holiness? Yes, please!

GIFTS THAT KEEP ON GIVING
  • Topic Overview: Helping leaders become more self-aware of their gifts and what they can offer in ministry
  • Target Audience: new or experienced core members
  • Description: Often times leaders in our ministry can be very humble and modest. This is a great thing - until it starts to suppress the talents that can be utilized to enhance the work your ministry does. This workshop will arm you with the knowledge to be able to have your leaders recognize their gifts and give you ways to encourage them to use these to the fullest.
TWEAKS TO CLIQUES
  • Topic Overview: Sticking with cliques or sticking it to cliques
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: This workshop will examine cliques - the pros, the cons, the challenges, and the benefits. We'll look at why they are important to recognize and how to adjust accordingly to ensure your ministry remains successful.
SMALL GROUP KEYS
  • Topic Overview: Highlighting the key components in facilitating a small group of teens and tweens
  • Target Audience: new core members
  • Description: This workshop will get you thinking about how you run your small groups and will outline some of the key components in facilitating these groups to maximize their effect.
PRESSURE COOKERS
  • Topic Overview: When the topics in ministry get sticky - some strategies to respond well to the hot topics
  • Target Audience: core members
  • Description: A youth seems hesitant but starts asking a question in a small group that you're facilitating. It's a tough question on our beliefs about an issue that you think may be very close and personal to the youth asking the question, and a few other people in the group. Before the question is complete, a bead of sweat forms on your forehead. How will you respond? This workshop aims to make you feel more comfortable in answering these pressure cooker questions!

  • Topic Overview: Here are the needed ingredients to make high school ministry successful at your parish
  • Target Audience: Youth Ministers and core members
  • Description: You thought only Colonel Sanders had a secret recipe!? Come to this workshop to find out the real ingredients needed to ensure the high school ministry at your parish is a success. We're not just giving you a list of herbs and spices here, you'll come away with some practical ways to make sure your teens are kept engaged and your ministry flourishing.
